As of last Friday we are over halfway to our goal to receive an ipad, so PLEASE keep spreading the word!! We just need to sell 28 more pieces of jewelry to meet the goal. Check out www.thepuzzlingpiece.com & order an item under the ipad challenge tab & put Brianna Zimmerman in the challenger's name space so I get credit. Please, please help us meet the goal!

Please Help!! (from my Mom)
I am participating in the iPad challenge through thepuzzlingpiece.com in order to get an iPad for Brianna & to raise awareness for Autism. I would appreciate it greatly if you would be willing to make a purchase to support this great cause & allow my daughter to have a voice. All you have to do is follow this link and put either my name-Kris Zimmerman or Brianna Zimmerman in the challengers line. It is very important that you put at least one of our FULL names in the challengers name space as that is how we receive credit. http://www.thepuzzlingpiece.com/products_ic.html It has to be one of the 8 items under the iPad challenge pieces tab, no other items on the website qualify.
After we sell 60 of the items we get an iPad. This challenge was started by a mom with a son on the autism spectrum & she's trying to get as many iPads as she can in the hands of children with autism. Please help mine & Brianna's dream become a reality! If you have any questions, feel free to email me & PLEASE forward this on to as many people as you can. It would be much appreciated!!
God Bless you all for caring!

Info on Brianna for those who don't know her.
My daughter, Brianna is 12 and is diagnosed with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome and PDD-NOS. She is VERY limited verbally & most people cannot understand the little bit of speech that she does have. She loves to interact with people but it's hard for her to get her point across if people cannot understand her speech. She uses some sign language but she also is also VERY limited in her fine motor skills. She has been using a communication book with flip pages and does well with it but that is limited because you can only carry around so many pages. She would benefit greatly having an ipad to use with a communication app such as Proloquo2Go so that she could have a "voice". She could also use it to type since she is learning to type & spell. I feel if she would have a way of communicating with a device like this she would better be able to express her wants and needs and therefore help in lessening her frustrations and prevent meltdowns. She has had access to an ipad while her TSS is here as she has one & Brianna is able to use it and her fine motor skills are developed enough that it is definately an option for her to use. She is able to read simple words, it is mainly sight reading, she isn't able to sound words out at this point. It would mean so much to Brianna and our family if she would be able to communicate with a voice so she can better interact with her classmates, friends, siblings and cousins so she can feel like an important part of society and not be frustrated because people don't understand her. Her teacher and Speech therapist are the ones that suggested an ipad for Brianna, they feel it would benefit her greatly in school, home and the community. We want her to be as independant as possible and this would help with her independance. She would be able to answer test questions at school, interact with her classmates, better participate in class, order food when dining out, interact with her three younger siblings and share what she knows as we all know she knows a lot more than what she is able to express at this point since her methods of communication are so limited now.

No School....
I am really getting grumpy about being off school. I had off school Thursday & Friday for teacher in-service & then of course no school on the weekend. I thought for sure I would be going back today & then mom tells me no school again!!! That makes me sad. :( I can't wait to go back again tomorrow! I was so bored today. I asked mom if we could go to Grandma & she said Grandma is at work. I asked if we could go to the park & mom said no again! Then I wanted a snack & mom said it's soon lunch time. I wanted a hot dog & fries for lunch but mom said, Sorry, we're out of hot dogs. :( My aunt Dawn & cousin Sierra stopped in for a bit this morning-that was fun!
Yesterday my family went biking & I spent the afternoon with my respite caregiver, Pam. We had fun hanging out-reading books, swinging & having a snack.
By the way, my dental surgery went GREAT!! Mom couldn't believe how calm I was when they were getting me registered & examining me. I even sat quietly while they listened to my heart & lungs with the stethescope (I used to be TERRIFIED of those things). They removed the 3 teeth & now my mouth feels better. Mom asked if my mouth feels better & I smiled really big.
Well, I'm gonna go take a nap cause that's what I do when I'm bored. :)

Fun Weekend
I was happy to be able to spend the day with my friend, Karlita & her family on Saturday. Then on Sunday I just hung out at home all day cause we were all tired. The rest of my family went to the cabin on Saturday & we didn't get home until very late. So, we took naps Sunday afternoon & went to bed early. :)
I was happy to go back to school today. We got our class pictures taken & tomorrow we get individual pictures taken. Mom told me I need to smile pretty.
I have a new TSS & her name is Caitlin & she is very nice-I like when she rewards me with a game on her Iphone after I complete my work. :)
